Mouse Over Help Text Omissions

Postby fastlanephil » Wed Jan 01, 2014 6:40 pm

I noticed that some of the mouse over help pop up windows in the Transport Window seem to be missing the text.

That's some pretty amazing programing with the Color Scheme changes. Wow!

Hello Phil,

Which ones in particular are you missing?

Hi Jeremy,

I've discovered this issue happens when I hide Metro and then bring it back up on my iMac. I haven't installed Metro 7.2 on the Mac Mini yet.

I have my iMac and Mac Mini connected with TB cables for using Target Display Mode and connected for sharing via ethernet if that would make any difference.

Those affected are Cue, Record, both clock read-outs, Record, Temp read-out, Scaled read-out, Internal Sync and Count-Off.

Restarting Metro corrects this.

I guess I am a little confused. Is the problem only with help tags? The tags that appear above the window providing help.

I ask because on the Mac, it can take fair bit of time before they reappear after moving the mouse or clicking.

If not, please post a picture of the problem if you can.

Yes, it's only with the help tags. Instead of a yellow text tag with words in it, a small empty tag will appear.

When I did the screen capture then the issue was gone.

If you can't replicate this maybe it's just a glitch specific to me.

I cannot get it to repeat on a 10.5.8 IMac. So here are some questions.

What is your OS X version number?

What is the setting, in the switches menu, for "Float Transport Window"?

How do you "hide" Metro?

More info. I was able to repeat this.

It appears what is happening is that the command key is not being accounted for correctly (somehow). If, when you get the blank help tag, you press and release the command key the help tags will reappear. I am still researching to find a fix.

Well this is not something new and it is not specific to the 'SharpGray' color scheme. It has been in there for a long time. It looks like it is a bug internal to Apple's help manager.

At any rate I was able to work around the problem by simply filling the text strings for when the command key is down.
