Editing Velocity With A Clustered Chord

Postby fastlanephil » Sun Nov 18, 2012 2:06 am

Sometimes you'll have a clustered piano or instrument section chord that you want to edit individual notes in because, for example, a note sticks out even though the velocity stems are the same or your trying to get a certain coloring. Instead of selecting the entire cluster and using the velocity option settings which won't solve the problem anyway just zoom the chord in to the max with the zoom tool(selecting it temporarily makes it easier keep track of) and you can usually clip each note's velocity stem with the velocity tool to get the exact sound you want. Then just zoom back out.

You can also do it all with the keyboard. With the keyboard window closed, Use the '[' and the ']' to select notes and use the up and down arrow to change the velocity. You can also select multiple notes with shift '[' and shift ']'
