Can Metro open XML files/documents ?

And if so , how ?

I don't know what it would do if it opened it. Is there a reason to open .XML files?

Hi,

I think, w is referring to the importing of Musicxml which, is way better than just importing a MIDI file.

An exported MIDI file, only contains patches, notes, tempo, note length, volumes and a few other things.
XML contains everything from a MIDI file and alot more info, like : clefs, lines per page, measure per line, dynamic marks, articulations, lyrics, text, slurs, stem direction, tablature, repeat signs, endings and on and on.

Many DAW and scoring apps have implemented Import/Export of .XML.

I have several Mac DAW's that make use of XML files including PG music Band in a Box .

Perhaps XML files would help with Metro's notation because i have noticed some disparities using imported midi files.

Exactly correct.


Which is why i was surprised to discover Metro does not have that feature. Yet?

Yes XML Import/Export will be a big plus. What would be nice is to update the score in Metro with more features to export to xml and then re-import into Finale, Sibelius or, Notion to refine and for better layout.

Fully agree.

The notation in Metro needs a huge improvement in the first place and if Jerm could implement XML that would indeed be plus factor.
