The FA-101 is a single half-rack 10x10, 24-bit/96kHz audio interface drawing power directly from a 6-pin FireWire port. The unit is capable of 6 in, 6 out at 24-bit/192kHz. It also offers 8x8 analog I/O with two phantom mic preamps, Stereo Optical S/P DIF I/O, MIDI I/O, and 1/4" headphone output with built in direct through mixing capabilities for low latency monitoring.

This unit looks like it has a couple of advantages over the competition.
It can be powered by firewire, which means if you have a laptop, you can bring this thing anywhere and record without having to plug in.
Also, I've been comparing it to the new M-Audio Firewire 18/14. As far as I can tell, the 18/14 does not have balanced TRS jacks, only TS (cost cutting, maybe?) The FA-101 has TRS jacks on the back.

Found it for $499 + free shipping at Midiwarehouse.com

Anyone know Edirol's track record for writing good Mac drivers?
I'd love to see some feedback on how the FA-101 works with Metro.

hello, I bought the FA 101 EDIROL, but it seems don't work with metro, I don't know why....
Has someone the same problem ??

It the driver install ok?

Does the FA101 appear in the audio/midi setup? (I assume it should....maybe on the audio and the midi side of things).

there is no driver needed, it appears but impossible to record anything....

I would think the popups in the audio/midi setup would need to be set to the FA101 for sound in and sound out and input source.

In metro the digital audio setup shold be set to FA101.
Device options output device the FA101.
