Support for Marker Meta-events?

Postby hommedars » Sun Dec 07, 2003 2:21 pm

My Tyros manual provides instructions for creating styles in a software sequencer, but requires the recording of Meta-event Markers. Here is a section of a style dump that I did to give you an idea of what this looks like:

( 22) DTime: 0 Time Signature: 4/ 4
( 30) DTime: 0 Tempo: 106
( 58) DTime: 0 MARKER:SFF1
( 66) DTime: 0 StyleName:FOLK Shffl1
( 102) DTime: 0 MARKER:Triplet
( 113) DTime: 0 Sysex Command F0 43 76 1A 10 01 01 01 01 01 00 00 00 F7
( 129) DTime: 0 MARKER:SInt
( 137) DTime: 0 Sysex Command MIDI on
...
( 600) DTime: 384 MARKER:Main A

Does Metro SE 6 (or Metro 6) support these Marker Meta-events, and if so, how can I enter them?

I searched the online help files and did find anything about this.

Thanks!

Is creating a style anything like conforming to a groove?
Maybe that's the word you need to look up in the manual.

Fingers crossed.

I think scoot is mistaken here.

From what I can see it looks like this is a standard MIDI file representation. If it is you may be able to simply use the marker functions in Metro. Markers are added/edited in the graphic editor (or markers window). Last time I checked Metro will write the markers when it exports a MIDI file.

If Tyros has a way to export its file, then the easiest way would be to export the MIDI file from Tyros and import into Metro and have a look at it.

You're right Jerm, groove and style are not the same. But thanks for trying Scoot.

I've gotta do a little research ( and learning ) to put the pieces together, but if the marker works out as suggested, I will post back here with the results.

Thanks for the help!
