PLug In Question

Postby PhilGillis » Thu Jul 15, 2004 12:16 am

I see in the Plug-Ins that I have some from APple . I guess these are AUs . .trying to learn the terminology . .anyway, here is the list I have:

Delay
Dynamic Processor
Graphic EQ
High Shelf Filter
HiPass
LoPass
Matrix Reverb
MultiBand Compressor
Parametric EQ
Peak Limiter
DSL Music Device

WHere are these actually located on the drive? I cannot find them anywhere. Are these considered Audio Unit Plugins?

Built into OSX I believe........Jaguar and beyond seems to be better than earlier versions.....Is it part of core audio?

Normally other audio units would be located at

harddiskname/library/audio/plug-ins/components

if you have others to install.

Metro also can use VST plugins which are alongside the components folder.......which is something Apple/Emagic seem to have ignored/replaced with AU's.

At http://www.grantedsw.com/
there is an audiounit manager that can turn them on and off, but I don't think it can change these standard plugins you mention. It behaves like the old extensions manager.

The DSLMusicDevice you have in your list is a shell to load soundfonts.
Soundfonts are better sounding instruments than quicktime and there are links to find them on the sagantech website.

My other fav is the matrix reverb and would work on audio tracks.
