Automatic delay compensation

Postby Paul » Tue Mar 09, 2004 4:15 pm

Is it possible to implement automatic delay compensation in Metro 6.2 when using effects from DSP cards like Powercore? When I insert a compressor or any other effect, there is an audible delay. I would be great if Metro worked like Logic/Cubase and compensated for the delay.

Paul,

As of 6.1.0.6 Metro handles plug-in latency. From the announcements section:
Latencies of plug-ins (AU and VST) are now handled better. Plug-in latencies when rendering are accurate to the sample if the latency is a multiple of audio packet size. This means plug-ins with built-in delays will play back and render better than before.

I don't think it is possible to compensate for the delay while recording and I would be very surprised if other programs can do that.

Jerm,

I'm currently using Metro 6.0.8, with which latency is clearly audible. Do you mean to say that that latest version also handles latency compensation when a VSTi is used? And is there also compensation applied to buses?

Maybe I should try it myself... :)
